Just the day before, Leona and Diana, two of Anca's helpers, found 3 puppies in a fallow field.

And now at the same field only a few meters closer to the road they noticed
a female dog. At first, the two helpers thought it could be the mother of the three puppies from the day before and followed the dog to catch her. Only, when they reached her, they saw the dog lying down in the thicket. They went closer and they saw the reason why. It was newborn puppies.

It was very cold that day and there was going to be snow or freezing rain. So, the two young women decided to call Anca and ask for help for the mama dog and her puppies.

Of course, Anca came and took the little dog family into her "Safe Place".

Puca and her puppies found families in Germany and could leave Romania forever.

It's December.
Cold - Wet
Temperatures around the freezing point.
The wind was icy cold.

Two of Anca's aides were on their way home when they saw something in a fallow field. Something was moving slowly. But they were not able to see what it was. So they decided to go and investigate.

As they got closer, it became clearer and clearer. It was puppies. Two boys, one girl were walking alone across this field without a mother. Someone had probably abandoned the three furry noses at the edge of the field and now the little ones were trying to find their way "home" again to get to their mother.

The helpers quickly took the puppies under their jackets.

Now we hope that the three puppy boys and girl are strong enough and we are able to introduce them soon so that they can find their families who will never abandon them again.

Update:
All 3 puppies have made it. They found loving families in Germany.

In the middle of Trusesti there is a small market place where several tables are permanently installed. Under one of these tables, an unscrupulous person has disposed of two very young puppies. The little ones are only two to three weeks old. Completely helpless, exposed to all dangers. It is a cold and rainy day. Without help, the two puppies would be dead in a few hours.

A lady walked by this table and noticed the puppies. She took the little ones in her arms and tried to warm them up. The woman looked around, searching for the owner, approaching passersby and asking around. People mocked her or would even verbally abuse her. Finally, the woman had an idea and went to Anca's vet to ask for help for the two puppies.

Anca has known this lady for years. The woman lives in poverty herself and has mental, as well as physical difficulties. But she is kind-hearted and feeds strays and tries to help the street dogs and cats around.

Anca took the little ones in. Now they are safe, being fostered and Anca will try everything possible to ensure the survival of these two.

The two puppies fought and won.
They survived and found families in Germany to travel to.

Pomarla is a village about one hour from Botosani. A very animal-loving young man works in this village, who is also a supporter of Anca. He is always trying to help street dogs in and around the place.

One day, he noticed that a dog had given birth to her puppies in a dilapidated house near a very busy road. He provided the mother dog with food. Now, the puppies were slowly getting to the age where they were starting to walk and explore everything. The young man was afraid that the puppies would be capable of running onto the street and possibly die out there. Therefore, he asked Anca to help the mother dog with her six puppies. ( four boys, two girls.)

Since then the little family has moved in with Anca and the pups are able to grow up with her in a safe place until they are ready to find their own families.

Update:
Unfortunately, only 3 puppies managed to survive. But these 3 found wonderful families and were able to leave Romania.

Again puppies were simply disposed of as if they were garbage.

Four little furry noses were stuck in a sack, tied up and dumped somewhere along a dirt road. The little ones were scared. Whimpered. Tried to escape from their prison. All in vain. They huddled together and waited. Hoping their owner would come back and get them. The hours passed.

Thirst. Hunger.
For many hours now they had been lying in that bag.
It was getting cold.
But then, someone opened the bag and the puppies saw a face.

A young man saw the sack lying on the dirt road and nudged it lightly with his foot, and something inside the sack moved. He opened it and four little puppies looked at him. The young man took all the puppies home with him. There he gave them something to drink and food. And he called Anca because she happens to be his teacher.

Of course, Anca picked up the 4 puppy boys.
Soon the 4 will get their first vaccination.

Update:
All 4 puppies made it and found families who adopted them.

The first snow fell to the ground during the night.

In the early morning, Anca started even earlier than usual, because she expected that there would be not only problems on the roads, but possibly she would be longer at her feeding stations.

Right at her first feeding point, at the rest area between Botosani and Trusesti, a very sweet and young dog was waiting for her. Phoebe, as Anca's vet, would later suggest as her name, literally offered to let Anca take her along. The pretty dog pulled out all the stops, from submissive and cuddly to playful and sweet.

It is very likely that Phoebe was left here by her owner, knowing that this affectionate and innocent creature would most likely not survive for long.

Now Phoebe is safe with Anca and will soon be on her way to find a loving family who will never abandon her again.

Update:
Phoebe lucked out, received an offer for a spot at a foster-station and was able to leave Romania. From there, the sweet dog quickly managed to find her own family.

One of Anca's students was walking along the village border of Trusesti.
He was moving toward a larger garbage dump. Containers with household garbage, various garbage scattered everywhere. In the middle of it a larger trough in the ground. Trash thrown everywhere as well. And then the young man spotted a puppy lying among the refuse. And then another and another. He "collected" the three puppies and called Anca.

It was cold. Actually, Anca wanted to warm up and eat something when she arrived home. But then her phone rang again. She listened, spoke a few words, and hung up. She put her shoes back on, got into the car, and drove off. Her student had described the place where he was waiting for her.

The three puppy girls were only a few weeks old. We hope they will make it and are able to go find their own families in a few weeks.

All girls survived and found lovely families in England.

And it happened again :-(

Two puppy girls were abandoned at THE rest stop. This rest area is known for the fact that pets are abandoned here again and again. Anca has found many puppies as well as kittens that were abandoned here.

We are not able to imagine what causes a person to abandon helpless babies somewhere. And then in this place. Only three meters away from the main road. The connecting highway from Botosani to Trusesti and further to Stefanesti. Many, many trucks pass through here every day and of course cars, too, with high speed. Dogs and cats, which do not know this danger, run without further ado onto this road and are killed there. These people who abandon their animals here take this in stride.

These two puppy girls were lucky - Anca came at the right time and was able to take them home. Now the little ones are being nursed back to health and are receiving their first vaccinations. We hope that they are strong and survive.

Both girls survived and found lovely families in England

One of Anca's acquaintances told her about a family that houses a lot of cats on their property. Many cats would arrive from the street and find a place of refuge there. However, all the cats there were not spayed or neutered.

Anca visited the family and promised to help neuter the cats if they would continue to tolerate the cats on their property. The family had also taken in a male and a female dog from the streets. Also unneutered, of course. As a result, the dog gave birth to several puppies. Unfortunately, all but one puppy girl died. Anca took the little girl with her and in return had the dog spayed.

Anca will visit this family from time to time to see if the family is keeping their agreement and the cats are able to continue living there in "safety". The little puppy girl is getting her vaccinations and will soon be looking for her own family.

Update:
Buha had lucky and a family fell in love with her.

A cold November morning, a young man was on his way to work when he passed a garbage dump behind a block of flats and saw these two little puppies lying in a cardboard box. It seemed like the little ones had not been left there for a long time because they were not yet hypothermic. The young man took the two first of all with him to his place of work.

Now he thought about what to do with them. Who would be able to help? He himself had no place and no time to take care of orphans. He told his cousin about his find and she knew Anca, as she helped her from time to time in her "Safe Place".

Now the two puppies will receive their first vaccination soon and we hope that we will be able to introduce them very soon so that they can find their families.

Both puppies survived and were able to travel to their families in England.

In November, the nights are getting colder and colder and during the day the temperatures are usually only in the single-digit range.

Next to the roads in Romania are open sewage ditches. Small bridges are built over these ditches to connect the road with a piece of land.

Nicu, a young man and foster station of Anca heard soft whining noises beneath such a passage. He looked, but because the flow was blocked with stones and garbage, he was not able to see anything. Nicu suspected that someone had thrown puppies into this ditch and that the little ones were now hiding in the debris. He laid out food and hoped that this would encourage the puppies to come out.

However, this took two days until the puppies dared to accept the food.  There are two boys and one girl. Nicu went to this place for another two days to make sure that there was not another puppy hidden there.  But the food left there was untouched these two days.

Now the only a few weeks old three little fur noses are safe with Nicu and are fed.

All 3 puppies survived and found their families.

In late November, temperatures drop below 0°C during the nights. During the day they are only just above that. Anca was on her way to the feeding spots again early in the morning, where "her" street dogs are already waiting for her. Waiting for their breakfast. :-)

Her first stop is the rest area near a small forest. Many pets have already been abandoned here. And this time again a little frightened puppy boy was waiting for them -  simply abandoned by his owner.

The little boy squatted under the benches which had been set up there. At first, he did not dare to come closer towards Anca. Again and again, cars rush past this rest area at high speed. But then the desire triumphed in him that Anca might be able to take him with her. And - yes, of course - she took the approx. three-month-old puppy boy with her and brought him to safety.

Cibi found his people in Holland and was allowed to travel to them.

At some point during a cold, rainy night, a little puppy girl, only a few weeks old, was simply thrown over a fence onto a property. This person who did this accepted without any remorse that the puppy would be injured when it hit the ground or even attacked by the adult dogs living on the property.

Fortunately, the little one did not hurt herself and the dogs did not hurt her either. On the contrary, they took the little one into their midst until the next morning.

The property belongs to a lady who helps Anca as a foster station. She saw the little puppy girl lying with her dogs the next morning. Now the little one is safe for now.

Update:
Jana found a lovely family who adopted her.

Anca is in charge of several foster homes in Trusesti. People who are concerned about the fate of street dogs and cats and want to help them. One of these foster homes was asked for help for three puppies. A lady found these only a few weeks old puppies in a remote forest. They were lying nestled together on an old piece of cloth.

Again, three puppies were simply abandoned. Left to their own devices, in the certainty that they will not survive for long. A solution would have been simple and sustainable. Castration.

Now the three boys are living at the foster home and once they have received their vaccinations, the three puppies will go to find their own families.

Across the street from Anca's workplace, Trusesti High School, you will find the children's home of the community. Boys and girls from different age groups live here together. For years Anca has been showing and teaching children how they should deal with dogs and cats, shows them to care for, and introduces them to the being "animal".
 
Since then, Anca has found understanding, compassionate, little helpers . They protect and take care of animals that need help or have to be found. Thus, a girl playing on the street discovered a small puppy girl crouching near the curb. The girl took the little doggy child with her and brought it to Anca during the school break.

Now the puppy girl is with Anca, is being nursed back to health, and has, due to a child refusing to "look away", won a chance at life.

Alice, how the little puppy girl was christened at Anca's, lucked out and was able to move to an amazing family.

Some nights in November are already very cold, often in the single digits.

One of Anca's helpers was on his way home late in the evening when he passed a garbage dump. Out of the corner of his eye, he only saw something scurrying under a container. The young man paused briefly but suspected that it was probably a rat. He was about to continue on his path when he heard a soft whimper. Now he stopped again and listened. And yes, it was a whimper. The young man went to the garbage dump and looked under every container. And the last one had a little puppy. It was a little puppy girl. Trembling with cold, thin and there were fleas scurrying over her body.

The young man called Anca told her about his find and asked if he would be able to bring the little puppy girl to her. And of course, Anca agreed.

Now the only few-week-old girl is with Anca and will be nursed back to health.

Update:
Indeed, the little puppy girl made it and has found a sweet family that adopted her.

Since the beginning of July, a big male dog has been living at the rest area, that Anca stops at as her last destination. Bogdan, as Anca called him, was waiting for her every day. Even if it was late in the evening, Bogdan was waiting for her there.

But he kept his distance from Anca for weeks. He was happy to see her and jumped back and forth, but he did not let Anca stroke him. He also did not take any food from her hand, but at some point, Anca was allowed to touch the tip of his nose.

Bogdan was careful but by no means frightened. He probably only wanted to be sure that nobody could hurt him and so he always decided to keep at least one meter distance to people.

Ancas' motto is that she can only help animals if they want to go with her.

Update:
Bogdan quickly received a foster-station offer and was able to leave Romania. From there the sweet large dog found his own family.

Again a dog was abandoned at a resting spot.

Most likely the owner took his dog with him, put him in the car, drove with him to this resting place, seized him by the neck, and tossed his pet dog towards the undergrowth. Before the dog understood what has just transpired, its owner was already out of sight. And the dog was on its own. Presumably unable to survive as a small dog on the streets of Romania.

This or something similar is what Rosu must have experienced.

One day in October Anca visited this resting point to feed "her" street dogs. Rosu came running towards her, dancing and jumping up at her. Rosu was so happy that someone was there now. Maybe someone to help him, someone to take him back. Rosu clung to Ancas' leg. He didn't want her to leave without him. He tried everything possible and of course, the male had success. Anca took the extremely loving and people-oriented Rosu, as she later called him, to safety.

Update:
A family fell in love with Rosu and adopted him.

On a day in October Anca received another call for help.

This time from an animal-loving gentleman, who had given refuge to a street dog in his garage. The female dog was free to come and go whenever she liked. He left her water and leftover meals. He often did not see the dog for days, but the food was always consumed. One day he noticed that "his" street dog was no longer alone. She had given birth to seven cute, lively puppies. Now the puppies are a few weeks old and he was not able to care for all of them. He would need assistance, for the little ones and the mother dog.

Anca promised the man that she would take the small family in,
as soon as the puppies got their first vaccinations and there would be some space in her "Safe Place" again. In return, the man promised to continue taking care of the canine family.

Update:
We are so overjoyed. All the puppies survived and grew up to be lively little fellows. Our partner organization Aktiv Tierschutz Lichtblicke e.V. was able to find families for all of them who adopted the little ones. And Anca has had their mama spayed. She remains with the gentleman who also treats her well and takes care of her. From time to time Anca visits the owner and checks up on her.

And again a heartless somebody has abandoned three beautiful puppies at the roadside. This, someone, acted in the certainty that these puppies would probably not survive. There was a high probability that the puppies would be thrown onto the nearby road would run and die there, or that they would continue their journey into the undergrowth and there miserable because of hunger and lack of water
would die.

Leona, a student and assistant of Anca , was on her way home when she heard something in the undergrowth near the road. Completely by chance. She checked and found three young puppies. Only a few weeks old. She took the little ones home and thus saved three lives. The puppies can stay there for now until they received their first vaccinations. Then they will move to Anca and from there they would go on to look for their families, who will never abandon them again.

Update:
All three puppies lucked out and found families that will never ever abandon them.

In October, it became apparent that winter was just around the corner. The temperatures at night were already many times in single digits only.

A student of Trusesti High School found a small female dog with her seven newborn puppies in a hole on a field. The little ones were just a few days old. Their eyes and ears were still closed. Soon there would be the first ground frost and the babies were defenselessly exposed to the cold in this place. The young man took the puppies along with the mother dog and informed Anca about his discovery.

Of course, Anca picked the small family up and brought them to her " safe place". The female dog takes excellent care of her offspring. And now with a roof over her head, warm pads, good food, and proper care her puppies have a good chance to survive.

We hope that everything goes well and that in a few months we will be able to present the seven to their new families, to ensure a carefree and exciting, beautiful dog life.

Update:
Ariana and her young have made it : All of them were able to leave Romania and have found wonderful families that adopted them.

Near Ancas workplace, Trusesti High School, there is a trash yard behind a block of residential buildings, where all kinds of garbage is thrown away. Not only do the residents of this neighborhood bring their household garbage there, but also people who live somewhere else. Again and again, animals are also disposed of in this area. Mostly puppy dogs or kittens.

A fellow teacher of Anca lives in this block. Before starting work he just quickly wanted to take his household garbage over there. In front of a garbage container, there were three young puppies on a bag. Another one was beneath the container and five were running back and forth in desperation. The young man quickly called Anca. Of course, Anca immediately drove to this trash site.

Together they "collected" the five puppies. The little ones were not in good condition. Thin, full of vermin, and very, very tired. Anca put the five puppies into their transport box, provided them with water and food. After the puppies had satisfied their hunger, they fell asleep immediately- nestling together.

We sincerely hope that these five little ones will survive and forget that their owner disposed of them like household waste.

Update:
All 5 puppies survived, found their own families and were able to leave Romania.

On the same day that Anca found Bila, she received an emergency call in the evening. A lady had found a bag at a garbage dump, which contained five puppies. Since she did not know what to do, she left the bag behind.

Anca asked the lady to fetch the puppies from the garbage place and to keep them at her place until the next day. Anca promised that she would pick up the puppies at her place the very next day. And indeed, the woman sends her son to get the puppies. The sack was still there with the five puppies still inside.

The next day, as promised, Anca picked up the five little ones from the lady and took them to her vet for first aid. All five were covered with parasites plus their larvae and eggs. The five were in a very neglected condition.

One thing we will never understand is: how can someone simply dispose of helpless creatures like garbage? These puppies are only a few weeks old and were simply snatched from their mother to dump them in a trash dump to die!

We hope that these five babies are strong enough and will fight. Fighting for wonderful dog life, that we will try to offer them.

Update:
Sadly, two of the little puppies didn't make it. But three of their siblings are now living a wonderful and protected life with their own families, outside of Romania.

At October - after a long day in Trusesti Anca was on her way home. Her last feeding place is a resting place near a small woods. Dogs and cats are often abandoned there. But there are also street dogs living there, which are fed by Anca every day.

This time Anca found a new fur nose there. From the first second on, this young dog was so friendly, so happy, that finally someone took care of her, talked to her, stroked her.

Anca took the approx. 11 months old bitch with her. As sweet and humane as this bitch is, it would be too dangerous for her to stay here. Anca put the bitch on her passenger seat. Bila, as Anca called her now, was so happy, so glad. She behaved very still, very calm, only her tail did not stand still and "knocked" against the car door.

Now, this black beauty is safe with Anca. Soon Bila will be looking for her own family. We will be reporting about it.

Update:
Bila was really lucky and received an offering for a foster spot, thus she was able to leave Romania forever behind. It didn't take long and Bila had visitors. Both sides thought it was a great fit, so Bila was adopted quickly.

One October evening, Anca had just finished feeding her fosterlings, when her cell phone rang. A woman from Trusesti reported that she had found three young puppies on the edge of a dirt road. She did not want to leave the little ones there to themselves, but she actually did not actually have space for the dog babies.  She asked Anca if she could take care of all three puppies.

Of course, Anca agreed and since she had to go to Trusesti that very evening, she made an appointment with the lady to pick up the three little fur noses.

We hope that all three will make it. Anca will do her utmost, and so that they can survive and later start the search for their own families.

All three doggy boys have grown into happy puppies.
They lucked out and found families that adopted them.

And again ...
Two puppy girls ...
simply abandoned at a resting area.

It is autumn. The days are cold, the nights even colder.
It is raining very often.
What are these people thinking, who expose small puppies in need of help?
Do these people really believe that puppies at the age of only a few weeks can actually survive? Without food - without water - without protection?

Anca found the two girls one morning when she was on her way to school. The two puppy girls stood by the curb and waited. Probably for their owner to pick them up and take them home. But this would never happen. Fortunately, Anca came to this rest area, in order to stock up the feeding spot.

Update:
Both puppy girls made it and had lucky to find their own families.

One morning, Anca was in the middle of a lesson when, in a quiet moment, she went to a window and looked out. Completely surprised, she saw a dog lying very close to the road on the opposite side of the school. Very, very close. Anca left everything and hurried downstairs hoping to get to the dog in time before a car ran over him.

When she arrived at its location, it turned out to be an old female dog. Nela, as Anca later called the dog, hardly has any teeth left in her upper jaw. The canine granny seemed depressed and hopeless. It seemed to Anca that the dog had almost completely lost her will to live. Nobody saw or noticed if Nela was abandoned at the spot or if the old dog lady was laying herself so close to the side of the road by herself.

But what we do know is this: Nela is a very gentle, calm, old canine grandma who deserves to spend her last months or years in a soft dog bed, being protected and cared for.

We will try that Nela finds a lovely family for herself and that adopts her and grants her heaven on earth.

Update:
Nela's dream REALLY came true. A woman found Nela's introductory page and immediately fell in love. Now Nela has finally found a wonderful home and is enjoying her life through and through.

At a early morning when Anca arrived at her first feeding place, the rest area where pets are abandoned frequently. Anca feeds the street dogs who live there every morning but on this day she noticed that there was a new fur nose among them. It was a small female dog who suffered from an early stage of mange and had many small wounds. At first, Anca couldn’t tell whether these wounds were caused by the mange (cracked skin) or were injuries. Unfortunately, Anca didn’t get close enough to touch or let alone catch her. Lory, as Anca calls her now, was cautious and wary. Therefore, Anca had no other choice but to leave some food for her with the hope that she would be more trusting the next morning.

And that’s exactly what happened. At the next morning Lory was already waiting at the entrance of the rest area. When Anca stopped and left the car, Lory ran to her full of happiness and hope. She wasn’t cautious anymore but rather so happy that she let Anca touch, caress and pick her up. Anca took her with her and started with Lory’s treatment on that day.

Update:
After her successful treatment, Lory found a Fosterstation and could forever leave Romania forever. Once she arrived at her foster station, it didn't take long until the family fell utterly in love with her and adopted her.

When Anca came home that afternoon, her neighbour was waiting for her. He carried a small brown female puppy in his arms. He told her that he was in the village when he saw the small puppy sitting in the middle of the road. She didn’t even move when a car drove slowly towards her. He hurried to get to the puppy and reached her just in time to pick her up and step aside.

If he had been there a minute later, the sweet little puppy would have been dead. But now she has a chance. Anca took the little one with her to her „Safe Place“.

Update:
Crina, as the puppy girl was named, survived and found a nice family in germany.

Anca’s mobile phone rang late that evening. A young man was on the other end of the phone. It was one of Anca’s students. He told her that he was on the way home when he found a little puppy who was sitting frightened next to a tree stump close to a forrest. He asked Anca what he’s supposed to do now.

She asked whether it’s possible for him to take the puppy home with him and keep him overnight. She would take over the puppy the next morning if he brought him to school.

And that’s what happened. It turned out that the male puppy is around 2 months old. We hope that he’ll survive.

Update:
Seby found a lovely family and was able to leave Romania.

The day before, Anca found three puppies at her first feeding stop, the rest area between Botosani and Trusesti.

One day later, a small dog was waiting there. She was soaked to the skin because it rained heavily the night before. Furthermore, the dog was so thin that her ribs were visible.

The dog was friendly and so happy that finally someone was there. She just wanted someone to take her away and no longer wanted to wait alone at the rest area. Why should she wait for her owner to pick her up again? That’ll never happen. Naturally, Anca put the small dog in the car and brought her to safety.

When Anca took the small dog to the veterinarian, it turned out that she tested positive for babesiosis. At the moment the dog who doesn’t have a name yet is being treated so she regains weight quickly and can start looking for a nice family after her treatment is over.

Update:
Daizy lucked out was offered a foster home and left the country.
From there, she found a lovely new family that adopted her.

Anca was on her way to work at the high school of Trusesti early in the morning. It was very cold that day. A few feeding places are on her way to the high school so Anca drives there before work as well. As usual, she stopped by a rest area where pets are abandoned frequently.

Anca immediately noticed a box that hadn’t been there the day before. As she got closer, she could already hear soft whimper and saw two puppies right beside it. A third puppy was behind it next to a white burlap bag. Three small around five weeks old puppies were abandoned here and left to die.

The three puppies were so happy that someone finally came who would hopefully take them with them. And of course, Anca put all three of them in her warm car. The fur noses are safe now. They get good food, love and soon their first vaccination.

All 3 dog children survived and found their families :-)

Hope died.

When Anca came home, the small and brave puppy was lying on her blanket, not moving. There hadn’t been any signs that this would happen. Just this morning, everything was fine. Hope ate, drank and was happy these last few days because she was petted and got attention.

Our partner organisation "Aktiv Tierschutz Lichtblicke e.V." even found a great foster home for Hope and she would have been allowed to leave soon. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be.

Run free little girl :-(

Anca visits „her“ chained-up watchdogs regularly. She checks on most of them every day because only a few owners take good care of their dogs. On this day, Anca went to visit one of these owners.

When she arrived, he showed Anca a female puppy which he found nearby his farm two days ago. The puppy was really, really thin and barely able to walk because both her hind legs and also her hip are deformed. It is too early to tell whether she had an accident or was born like this. She has to be examined by a veterinarian to figure this out.

Naturally, Anca took the little girl with her to bring her to a veterinarian and now Hope, as she is called today, is being nursed back to health. Good food, a safe home, and a soft dog basket are waiting for little Hope.

In mid-June Anca received a call from an acquaintance. He told her, that his female dog was about to give birth to her puppies and he was not would know what to do with the pups. Anca reacted angry and asked him why he had let it come to this point? Why did he not have his dog neutered in time, before Sofie got pregnant. Now it was too late.

Even though Anca was annoyed, she promised to take care of the little ones. In return they would have to agree to have Sofie neutered, as soon as her puppies no longer need her. 2 days after this call, Sofie gave birth to 7 puppies.

Now a few months have passed and Sofie has been neutered and her puppies have found their families.

Florin and his sister were walking around aimlessly. They just didn‘t know where to go. They were stuck inside a cardboard box and thrown inside the truck of a car. Their owner took both puppies and put them down near the curbstone. Somewhere. Then he entered his vehicle and drove off. Florin and Ioana stayed behind. This or similarily they could‘ve ended up on the streets.

One day on late August, Anca was on her way home from her feeding tour, She decided to stop at the rest stop, to feed the stray dogs that have made it their home. While near the entryway of the parkinglot, she already spotted two puppies, that were feeding on something. Anca left her vehicle and decided to take a closer look. Florin and his sister were in the process of devouring a dead hare. Both of them were frail and covered in fleas. Anca offered wet feed, that both of them wolfed down. Of course Anca took both of them with her.

Update:
Florin and Ioana found their families and were able to travel and leave Romania forever.

Anca received another call from one of students. She told her, quite upset, that she had just found two newborn puppies inside  a plastic bag at a garbage collection side. The miserable cries of the little ones managed to catch her attention, enabling her to secure them. Anca promised to meet her at the orphanage she is currently living in. Anca collected a few things and drove off.

When she arrived at the orphanage, a few children where already waiting for her - among them, her student. The girl wanted to nurture both of them. Of course, Anca brought everything: bottles, powdered milk, towels. Anca explained what she had to do, to be able to feed the little dwarves. What she had to look out for, and how she should interact with them.

We now hope that these two newborn puppies were found just in time. And that they're strong enough to survive without their birthmother.

Update:
Unfortunately, the two fur noses did not make it. Despite all efforts, both have stopped drinking milk after only a few days. Even "force-feeding" wasn't able to save them :-(

On the grounds of the Trusesti retirement home several street dogs found refuge and are able to live there. Anca feeds these animals regularly and started a campaign with their veterinarian to catch and castrate shy dogs.

This is where many weeks ago a not so shy female dog would deliver four puppy girls.  Anca fed and cared for the wellbeing of the small family to the best of her abilities. Sadly, two of them vanished without a trace. Nobody would ever find them. Anca assumes that they probably have fallen ill and hid somewhere to die. Anca sadly couldn't do anything for these two little girls.

The other two puppies are happy and healthy. Anca took both of them home, where they would be safe. Since then their mother has been castrated.

Update:
Both sisters have found families/ foster homes and were able to leave Romania.

Anca was on her way home to visit her foster station. When she parked in front of her house, a neighbour was already waiting for her. This neighbour explained that someone had left a bag containing puppies somewhere.

Both women went to a spot near a stream, where the lady had found the puppies this morning.

Five little puppies. All five where healthy but hungry.

We can't understand, how someone could throw away five healthy young puppies - discard them like trash, knowing that the little ones where most likely going to die. It would've been so easy to prevent unescessary suffering. Just by castration.

All 5 puppies survived and found families.

After a long day with castrations, feeding and taking care of street animals from Trusesti Anca was on her way home. On the way there is a rest area, where animals are released again and again. Many times already Anca found animals there, mostly puppies and kittens, which could not survive on their own.

When Anca stopped there that day, she directly saw a bag there lie on the floor. She approached and checked it. The sack was only closed with clothespins. These weren't really holding the bag closed, so that one could free himself from his prison.. And Anca already heard who was probably stuck in that bag. Two kittens came running towards them. Screaming, hungry.

When Anca put both kittens in a box, she heard a third Kitten cry. She searched and saw it too,but it was too afraid and disappeared in the undergrowth. Anca had no more chance to bring them to safety. Anca left food there and drove home. However, her thoughts always went back to this kitten, which was now alone there somewhere in the undergrowth. They decided to stop there first thing the next day and look for it.

And indeed. The next morning the third kitten was waiting in front of the undergrowth. Anca could take it directly on her arm and put it in a box set. It seemed as if the kitten was very relieved and happy, that Anca has come back.

Update:
For the three kittens, Anca has already found a great spot at the residence of a lady that is already taking care of several cats.

Between Trusesti and Stefanesti lies a resting area, which is known as place where locals are time and again abandon unloved and unneeded pets . Anca visits this resting place during her daily feeding tour through Trusesti to see if a dog or cat needs help.

When she arrived that day and got out of her vehicle, a little black tomcat ran towards her. He screamed and quickly came running to Anca. She took him in her arms. He was so thin. You could feel his small ribs. He would never be able to survive here alone. Anca put him into a transport box and scattered dry dog food for the street dogs that come here to eat.

In retrospect, Anca can no longer say exactly why she was still walked to those planter boxes. A feeling, a hunch... And in fact, in one of these plant boxes a tiny , palm-sized kitten was sleeping. At first Anca thought it was dead, but no, it moved. Of course Anca also took this tiny kitty with her. It would have had no chance of survival at this rest stop.

Update:
Both kittens have found their home with a lovely family in Trusesti.

August 21 was one of those days when Anca was left speechless. Stunned by anger, incomprehension and sadness.

During her daily feeding tour, Anca always visits to the orphanage of Trusesti to feed and care for the street dogs that are tolerated on the premises.

This Saturday should be a very hot day. Therefore Anca started very early in the morning with her feeding tour.

The road to Trusesti leads Anca to her first stop, the rest arop where pets are "disposed" of again and again. Besides "her" well-known street dogs, which wait there for Anca every day, there was also a small black female dog this Saturday. She was very thin and shy. She did not dare to touch the dry food Anca had spread out. When Anca offered her chunks of wet food, she quickly came to her. It seemed as if this sweet little black dog had not been fed for days. Anca took her to safety.

Arriving in Trusesti, Anca directly saw a knee-height female dog fearfully running across the main road and disappearing under a car. Anca went after her, approached the dog and offered her food. Carefully, the dog came out from under the car, looked around frantically and hastily wolfed down the chunks of wet food. Anca was able to pet the dog and the she became visibly calmer. Anca took her into her arms. Nearby at the roadside there was a stall selling watermelons. Anca asked there if anyone knew the dog, if she had an owner. But no, nobody knew anything. Anca kept asking, but with the same result. Nobody knew her. The little dog snuggled up to Anca in such a way that she did not have the heart to leave the her there. Anca took her with her.

When Anca was finished with the feeding stations in Trusesti, she continued her journey towards Stefanesti. A little behind the village of Trueseti there is another rest stop where animals are often released. Anca has set up another feeding spot there. But on this Saturday, on the way there, she saw a small dog sitting at the side of the road. It seemed as if it was waiting for something. Probably for its owner, who will never come back. Anca stopped. The little dog came running towards her, tail wagging. It turned out to be a sweet and friendly dog. Of course Anca took the female dog with her. Three loving and friendly girls will soon (each for herself) be looking for a home. We will keep you updated.

Olga and Eliza received a foster station offer and were able to find their own families.
Molly also lucked out when a family fell in love with her and decided to take her in.

And again a mother dog had been abandoned with her young near a rest stop.

Anca started her feeding route earlier in the morning, and exactly at the first stop she already found a female dog and four young in the undergrowth. The little ones were merely days old. It’s not very likely that she has given birth to her litter in this place, it’s more likely she had been abandoned. The mother dog was incredibly hungry and wolfed down the food. Anca decided to load all five of them into her car to bring them to safety.

A few days before Ioana had found seven , only several days old puppies that had been thrown away and sentenced to death on a dump site within a Forrest.(We already covered their story.) Anca now tried to have these seven nurse from the mother dog they had found that day. With lots of patience and verbal assurance, the dog was convinced and agreed. She took all seven of them in as their own. The small family had now become a large one.

Update:
Sadly not all puppies have survived. But the remaining six have finally found a loving home and enjoy their doggy lives. Just like Dina, their great mom, that has found a lovely family.

Today we want to introduce a very special dog.

A female dog that not only thinks of and cares for herself and her young, but also for several helpless, only a few days old puppies – strangers that had been sentenced to die.

For us the story of this brave female dog starts in a decrepit adjoining building of Trusesti’s orphanage. Anca had established a feeding spot on it’s premise. Very day Anca arrives to feed the dogs and ask the children if any of the stray dogs being tolerated on the premise needs help. The kids living in this children’s home are big animal friends and motivated to help. They care for them, give them love, affection and keep an eye on them.

One day near the end of June, when Anca arrived at the children’s home, some kids came running towards her, nervously. They told her that a mother dog had given birth to four puppies in one of the outhouses. Anca took a look and found a female dog with her four young, that had found shelter inside an out-of-order oven. It’s possible that this was the spot she even gave birth in! Anca took the small family to safety.

Anca, how the children of the children’s home now have named the proud mother dog, is now living at a foster home the human Anca supervises. On the very same day, four additional puppies had been found in a bucket. Simply left in the burning sun on the side of a road. Doggy Anca immediately adopted them as her own. Now she lovingly cares for eight puppies.

Without Mama Anca, that without thinking adopted these four bucket-puppies, they probably wouldn’t have survived. Now they’re five weeks old.

Anca, the amazing doggy mama lucked out and found a foster-station offer, from where she found 'her' humans.

Early mornign a young man was on his way to his workplace, when he was able to evade something black and brown just in time. Small young puppies where walking on the road and sat next to him in the grass. They were walking around, looking very lively. It seemed like they had just been abandoned at this spot a short time ago.

Lucky for these young puppies, that this man is very animal friendly and that he also knows Anca. He called her and asked for help with the little ones. Of course Anca agreed. They planned to have him take the six little ones to her in the evening, since he had to do his job. Of course the man took the little ones with him, leaving them in his car so nothing would happen to them. In the late evening he was able to bring the six young fuzzy noses to Anca. She assumed them to be eight weeks old. The little ones are well fed, jolly and seemed to be healthly.

Now that they're safe, they'll receive their first vaccination and soon all six of them are going to find their own families. We will report, when this is the case.

Sebi, one of Anca's volunteers was just on his way to an appointment, when he heard bloodcurdling screams. They weren't human screams, but those of a puppy screaming for help - scared to death - screaming for it's life.

Sebi took a quick look around and spotted a man standing in a fenced off yard. In his hand a heavy stick. In front of him, cowering on the dirty, something black and small - a puppy.

Without thinking, Sebi jumped the fence and ran towards the man that was just reaching back to deal another, probably fatal, strike. Sebi screamed and the man, telling him to stop. Without hesitation, Sebi threw himself between the violent man and the dog. The man was seething with rage and continued to beat Sebi. But Sebi was able to protect himself and grab the puppy thus saving the little one.

After a first veterinary check up, it seems like this little puppy girl got lucky that she wasn‘t hit. Still her eye was bloodshot. The veterinarian assumes this was caused by her desperate screams for help. The overexertion caused a blood vessel in Black Beauty’s, that’s the name given the small puppy girl, to burst.

If Sebi hadn't acted so couragous, this little black beauty surely would no longer be alive, but laying in the backyard of a very brutal man, with a shattered body and head. The little girl is now recovering at Anca's place. She receives a lot of love and affection, so this little one will hopefully be able to forget what she had to endure.

Black Beauty found a lovely family has found a lovely family and was able to live with them.

Opposite Trusesti's high school there is an orphanage. There, Anca also has established a feeding station. The special thing about this spot: The kids living in the orphanage care for the stray animals that are allowed to dwell on the grounds. Feed them, pet them and give them affection.

When Anca arrived at the the scene on this say, a few kids immediately walked towards her and asked for help with two puppy girls they had found the day before. The children told Anca, that they were scared something horrible would happen to the little ones. That they could be hit by a vehicle or that bad people would hurt them. And thus she took both young puppies with her. Bith girls were very hungry, dirty and covered in fleas. The kids had fed them something and bathed them in hopes of getting rid of the parasites. But that didn't help much.

Both girls are around three to four months old and now living in Anca's care. Both need vitamins and a supplementary diet, so they can soon receive their first vaccination. You're invited to become their vaccination patron and name these puppy girls yourself.

Both puppy girls have found their families.

In the late evening of the same day, Ioana and her boyfriend Sebi where on their way home to Trusesti. It was already very dark and the country roads are not lit.

Suddenly Ioana saw something small and light in the headlights, vanishing from the street into the high roadside grass. She stopped to check it out. Ioana noticed a very small puppy in the grass. The puppy child was absolutely terrified and Ioana had trouble catching it. She didn't want to scare the little thing even further.

When Ioana finally held the small puppy in her arms, she noticed: it's a little girl. Very small, maybe around four weeks old and only around 400-500 g heavy. The little one was shaking and her little body was covered in ticks and fleas. Talpa, that's the name she now carries, has severe skin issues due to the parasites.

Ioana and Sebi searched the near area, to maybe find Talpa's siblings or mother. But they found nothing. Now it seems that someone abandoned a puppy at the side of the road, fully knowing that there is a high chance that this small puppy girl wouldn't have survived long.

Now Talpa lives with her saviour. Ioana is heartwarmingly caring for this little one. We hope that little Talpa turns out to be a fighter and will survive.

Talpa survived and found a new home in UK

Ioana, one of Anca's helpers and foster stations, heard from a neighbour that there was a new, small dog in the area. The neighbour told her that the residents wouldn't tolerate this dog, and have even started trying to chase it off by throwing things or yelling at it.

Ioana looked around and searched for the small dog that was described to her. Finally she would find this little boy, looking for food,right inside a small side way branching up from the was to her home. When she addressed Marco, how she would later call the sweet little dog, would immediately run towards her. Marco is around one year old and only around 27 cm in height. This little man is very cuddly and would have a hard time fending for himself on the streets. Marco is just too sweet and tame to survive.

Ioana couldn't leave the sweet Marco behind and took him to Anca. At there he's going to be nursed back to health, and soon Marco will try his luck at finding a family that will never, ever let him down.

Marco has found a very nice family in Germany.

A mother dog with her nine puppies with skin problems.
Six newborn puppies, without mother, only a few days old. Helpless, still with eyes and ears closed

Actually, ONLY a transport and the takeover of a mother dog with her puppies was planned this Thursday. But Anca can never really plan her days. Most of the time, things always turn out differently than expected.

Two days earlier, Anca received a call for help from a man living in the village of Pomarla, about 70 km from Anca's place of residence. He asked Anca for help. He said there was a mother dog with her puppies on his farm and that they could not stay there. He feared for their safety because his workers were afraid of the dogs. Anca discussed with the gentleman that he should capture the doggy family and that they would pick them up from him two days later.

So, on June 25th Anca equipped her car with dog boxes, food, water, towels ... and started towards Pomarla. On the way she saw, again and again, street dogs near rubbish bins. Anca stopped at a rest area because she had heard that tthis would also be a "usual" place to rid yourself of unwanted pets.

And really ... on closer inspection Anca discovered six newborn puppies, only a few days old. Their eyes still closed. Flies were already crawling on the small bodies that, laid their eggs there. The little ones whimpered softly and tried to crawl underneath each other, instinctively trying to protect themselves. It was a bad sight and Anca tied up. She collected the six puppies and tried to remove ticks and larger fly egg nests at the site. But without a bath she couldn't remove all the insects - and she was too far from home to turn around. So she drove to her appointment to pick up the dog family quickly get home.

On this day Anca was already called to an emergency in the village of Brateni, early in the morning. This village was located 55km from Botosani.

That was where someone had found four young puppies in a forest without their mother, as so often. It's possible they were ripped from their mother and abandoned in the woods to die.

On their way Anca and Ioana passed many fields. Often with no houses, no people, no...nothing around.

And suddenly they spotted a young dog crossing the street. The dog kept pacing back and forth across the street, until it collapsed in the grass next to it. Anca stopped and she and Ioana checked on the dog laying in the grass.

Ioana approached Simina, how she would later call the puppy girl, and Simina immediately walked towards her, snuggling into her lap. Siminawas crying softly and couldn't get enough close body contact to Ioana.

Simina, around four months old, probably was abandoned at this spot. How long this little girl had waited in that exact location for her ex-owner's return, we can only guess. It must've been a very long time, since Simina was parched.

At this point some happy news:
Earlier this year Anca was visiting her mother. She told her that a young feline mother had given birth to her kittens on the abandoned property next door. The kitten didn't really care well about her litter. The little ones were thin and covered in parasites. Anca took the kittens with her, to nurse them to health. (Two kittens already found a new home.)

All kittens are very cuddly and tame, except one...
Tricolora. She's very timid, scared and doesn't enjoy being touched.

Anca told her mother that it is going to be incredibly difficult to find a home for Tricolora. Spontaneously, Anca's mother agreed to take Tricolora in and to give her a new home on her property. If she wants, Tricolora can look for contact with her, but it isn't forced. At the place of Anca's mother, everything needed for Trocolora's well-being is being provided.

A happy end for a timid cat. And of course Tricolora has been castrated.

A young puppy girl, around five or four weeks old, is being carried around by children like a toy, and finally left at the home of an older man. This man had absolutely no idea what to do with this small puppy. He didn't need a dog, especially not an ugly one - ugly, because Artemisa (how the little puppy girl would later be named) has a black coat.

His grandson heard of this and asked Ioana (a helper and foster station under Anca's supervision), if she could take in little Artimisa, since his grandpa would abandon the little one in the woods. After consulting Anca, Ioana took the little puppy girl in. Artemisa was so small and her body full of parasites. Her fell was dirty and stuck together.

Now a few weeks have passed and the small, helpless puppy has grown into a healthy and happy girl, that already received her second vaccination. Soon it's time for Artemisa to look for her own family.

Artemisa succeeded and a family fell in love and adopted the puppy girl.

Between the two towns Trusesti and Stefanesti is a rest stop, that again and again also ends up being the final destination for unwanted dogs and cats. This is where Anca established one of her feeding stations, making sure to check it every single day.

On this day, she was greeted with the sight of two small dogs. Anca drove onto the parking place, and both dogs immediately ran towards her. The small female dog (around 30 cm in height) and small male dog ( around 35 cm in height) were both adults, but still young.

Bernhard and Bianca, how Anca would later call the pair of fuzzy noses, were very dirty and hungry. It's possible that these two had been abandoned by their owner and were now waiting for their master to return and take them home. But he would never return. So Anca took both of them with her.

Now Bernhard and Bianca are safe, receive food and water, a soft padding to sleep on, will be castrated and vaccinated soon. Afterwards they'll start looking for their own family to travel to.

Update:
Bianca and Bernard have found their families and could leave Romania.

It was very cold this morning. On the day before there was a bad storm with lots of rain, thunder and lightning. During the night the temperature would drop down to the single digits.

On her way to her feeding spots Anca passes a small piece of woods shortly before the village Drislea in the community. Every day Anca will stop there, to check if anyone has abandoned their dog or cat.

But this time, Anca was floored. She was speechless. Anca was shocked.

Behind a tree there was a young puppy, looking at her with big, sad and frightened eyes. This puppy not only had been abandoned by his owner (probably even before the storm on the day before), but also had his leash tied to the tree. This little doggy boy would've starved to death. Since he had been on a leash, he never would've been able to walk around and forage for food.

Trent, how Anca would later call the cute, wround four month old puppy boy, is now safe and is being nursed to health with lots of love and care.

Update:
Trent found a lovely family in Belgium.

Someone notified Anca of motherless puppies having been spotted near an old, abandoned house. Anca asked for a description and drove off.

The home had been abandoned by it's former owners, but out on the patio were six puppies, five girls and a little boy. All five of them were properly fed, well groomed and without parasites. Just their mother wasn't anywhere to be seen. Anca assumes the family took off with the mother dog, deciding to simply keave the young behind. Maybe thinking, these little ones with their six weeks of age would be old enough to survive without her. But that's not the case. The little ones still need their mother. Not only for food, but also for their mental balance and protection.

Anca took all six doggy kids with her and is going to provide and care for them until they will be old enough to start looking for their own families.

Update:
Four puppies have survived and have grown up to lively and bright dog children.
All four have found loving families in Germany and were able to leave Romania.

On this day Anca received a call from a woman. This woman reported that she had seen that a young dog had tried to cross a road and was brushed by a vehicle. The dog was laying in the middle of the road, unmoving. She had pulled the little one from the road, at which point he had been alive. The lady asked Anca if she would be able to come and help the young dog. She described Anca the location.

When Anca arrived at the scene, the caller was still around and explained everything once again. The young dog was a small puppy boy, maybe three months old. Anca inspected him, but couldn't find any fractures. But the young one was still in shock. Anca took him with her and brought him to her vet that had a practice nearby.

After a throughough examination it was clear: The little one was extremely lucky. No injuries or fractures, "only" a shock. Anca took the puppy boy with her. The little one is currently very scared and barely has the heart to do anything. Anca is going to work with him and soon he will be a happy puppy.

Update:
Unfortunately, the little boy did not survive.
It is likely that he had suffered from internal injuries. Anca's vet was unable to do anything for him. Robin was put to sleep and passed peacefully in Anca's arms.
Robin, we are so very sorry. :-(

Last year the organisation "Pfotenhilfe ohne Grenzen e.V," donated several dog houses to Anca's Project Trusesti. Among other places, Anca would end up putting one of these huts on an industrial site, where she had already established a feeding spot.

Earlier this year a young doggy mother had chosen this hut as a place to give birth to her young. Now, another canine mom found this hut to be the ideal shelter the brith of her four young.

Ivy, how Anca would later call the sweet and caring mother dog, is sadly handicapped. A long time ago, her left hind leg had been amputated up to her knee.We can only assume why this had happened. But

Ivy has already arranged herself with her handicap, and the spot has actually healed nicely. Ivy is heartwarmingly caring for her young. Her four daughters are only a few days old. Anca took the little family with her into safety. There, Ivy will be able to rear her young in peace, and without fear.

Of course, we will keep you updated on this little family. We would be delighted, if someone would asume a sponsorship for their food or vaccinations.

Update:
A family wanting to adopt Ivy quickly contacted us. As soon as her young will no longer have to depend ontheir mother, Ivy will be able to venture to her new family.

When Anca came home from her day (feeding tour through Trusesti) and wanted to spend time with her family, her phone was already ringing again.

A woman reported, that she had noticed a car driving up to a dump, to throw unwanted puppies inside of a container. When the car disappeared again, she decided to check if the puppies were still alive. When she rummaged through the refuse, she ended up finding six young puppies. She had put the puppies down near the entrance of a building, but didn't quite know what to do with them now. Anca let her describe the location and drove of as quickly as possible. Her family had to wait....the puppies were more important now.

When Anca reached the dump, the six puppies , around eight weeks old, were laying next to a wall. All six of them had swollen tummies (full of worms), there was an unbelievable amount of fleas running across their bodies, many ticks visible though their short fur. Their eyes were sad, their gaze full of desperation.

There's an old, ramshackle house located on the outskirts of a small village in the county of Trusesti. It's been empty for quite a while. But every now and again a soon-to-be doggy mother will move into the ruin, chosing it as a place to give birth to a young.

Nicu and Bunica are part of a small dog family. Their mother either decided to move on, or something has happened to her. Now it's just them and their two siblings living inside the old house. Anca estimated the puppies to be around three months old. Nicu and Bunica are timid when it comes to people, but after the first few moments have passed they let themselves be touched and accepted being fed by hand. Their two siblings on the other hand were extremely shy and ran away. Sadly Anca was only able to catch Nicu and Bunica. when she returned the next day to look for the other two, they were nowhere to be found. Anca decided to leave food at the house. Anca is going to keep checking the location, but it seems that these two were just too scared and thus decided to move on.

Nicu and Bunica found their families and were able to leave Romania

On the very same day Anca would receive another call.

An animal loving lady from Darabani, a city located around 50 km away and still in the distric of Botosani , watched a man dump a small female dog and her two puppies at a dumping ground and leave. The dog tried to follow him but was chased away by him, causing her to walk back to her two puppies. She felt pity for the small family, and thus she took the dog and her two young into her home. Sadly she wouldn't be able to keep these three fuzzy noses. The lady asked if Anca had a solution for this problem.

Anca knew of one....She drove the two hours to Darabani to pick the small family up.

Terra is a small, very sweet around four year old dog. Her young are only around two months old.
They're now safe with Anca , where they can recover and regain their strength.

Update:
Terra has found a nice home in Belgium and her 2 daughters in Romania. Anca visits the two girls regularly with their families.

Five small puppies, around 2 months old, are fighting for their lives.

All five of them are in very bad health.
Thin, weak, dehydrated, with messy coats.
Their little bodies covered in fleas and ticks.
Their eyes searching for help.
All five of them had been thrown into a container to die.

But May 23rd could also be a lucky day for these little ones.
A animal loving lady found the puppies laying among the refuse and took them home. But she didn't quite know how she could help the small, weak puppies. She called Anca and asked for help with the five of them.

Now they're at Anca's place and being nursed to health. Good, nutricious puppy food, supplements and medication against parasites are among the first aids. Anca is going to try everything in her power to help them survive. Please keep your fingers crossed in hope that their little bodies were not too weak and that May 23rd is going to stay their lucky day.

Unfortunately 2 puppies lost the fight.
But 3 fur noses survived and were able to find their own families.

On this thursday afternoon, the transporter was on it's way to Anca to pick up the dogs that will be starting their new life at new families or foster homes.

When the van arrived, the drivesr weren't the only onse exiting, but also Baxter. He is a very, very skinny boy, with unkempt dirty fur, sad eyes and a gaze searching for help. The men told Anca that they had seen this sweet dog rummaging through the trash for food at a reststop and decided to take him with them.

Baxter's ribs and hip bones were clearly visible. You can also see the ident left by a far too tight collar. Baxter had lived on the chain. We don't know how long this sweet boy had been around searching for food, but judging by his condition his last meal must have been days ago. The driverd asked Anca for help, asked if she was able to take him hin. And of course Baxter is allowed to stay with Anca while he regains his strength and gets vaccinated, and of course we will be looking for a new , loving family for Baxter afterwards.

Baisa is around two years old , living as a chain dog at an older lady's place since her youth. A few weeks ago her owner passed away, causing Baisa to move to the spon of her owner that has been living under very poor conditions. He also kept her on the chain.

Her new owner was barely able to feed her and so she lost more and more weight. On top of that she got pregnant, giving birth to five puppies. One of Anca's helpers heard of Baisa's fate, informed Anca and asked for help with the sweet dog.

From a colleague at work Anca heard about a dog with her four puppies. She was told, that this dog was very, very thin and barely able to feed her young. A very nice lady had taken the small family in from the streets into safety. But the dog and her litter would not able able to stay for long. Of course Anca immediately offered to take the small family in and care for them herself.

Darabani, a city located around two hours from Botosani. This is where Africa and her puppies had been sheltered in a classroom. When Anca arrived and addressed the small female dog, it immediately came running with a wagging tail and accepted pets. Africa was so skinny, she must've been unable to find any food for days. Anca took the small family to her car and drove home. When they arrived Africa immediately received nutricious wet feed, to help her regain her strength and enable her to nurse her (around two week old) puppies.

Unfortunately, Africa's puppies did not survive.
Despite additional feeding, the little ones were already too weak.
But Mama Africa has found a nice home in Germany.

It's the late evening on this Mai 16th, Anca was just on her way home from her feeding tour through Trusesti, when she received a call. An acquaintance from Trusesti was on the other side. He told her that he had found two tiny kittens and needed her help. He continued to describe how he had seen someone put down these two kittens into the gutter channel on the opposite street of his home. He directly ran there, but couldn't catch the stranger. Instead, he took the around one week old kittens with them.

Anca turned her car around and drove back to Trusesti, retreiving the two wee ones from her acquaintance. These two small ones wouldn't have high chances of survival without their mother, Anca feared. And still she would try anything to save these two lives.

She thought about who could help caring for the kittens. That's when Ioana came to mind (a foster and hands-on helper) and sure enough - Ioana wanted to take over the care. Anca was relieved, since she herself was too busy with her other work related to the stray animals to be able to feed the pipsqueaks every two hours on time.

You're always there to help fuzzy noses in need.

On a day in April, Ioana was on her way home from Trusesti's center with her father (a good foster and supporter for Anca), when they passed a pile of wood. It was a pure coincidence that they passed the pile close enough to hear soft growling.

Ioana searched the area and found a young puppy underneath the pile of wood. The little one growled and barked at Ioana. It must've been terrified. Getting it out from beneath the pile and catching it was difficult and took a long time. It turned out that the puppy was an around three months old girl. Ioana and her father took her home with them into safety.

Lucia, that's how Ioana would later call the little puppy, was so mortified that she didn't accept food from people, let alone let them touch or pet her. Lucia was so terrified that she started wailing the second she spotted a human. Only God knows of the terrible things that must've happened to this little one to make her so scared of people. Ioana heart-warmingly cared for the little girl. She tried to gain her trust, tried showing Lucia that there were good people in this world.

Often there'll be a garbage disposal site right behind one of those blocks. There residents not only rid themselves of refuse, but also unwanted animal-offsprings, no matter if they're puppies or kittens.

Three puppy boys were stuck inside a cardboard box and left next to a container at one opf those locations. They were only a few weeks old and would've never survived on their own. Coincidentally Anca had implimented a feeding station at this site. Every day when she comes around to feed the strays, she takes a look at the containers. Including this April 29th.

Athos, Porthos and Aramis, how Anca would later call these three young boys, cried and screamed for help. Anca heard this and was able to find them.

When Anca arrived at her last feeding spot for the day, an older looking small male dog was already walking towards her. Scooby, that's how Anca would later name this boy, wasn't in a good condition. His coat was dusty amd dull, his eyes looked sad and he was very hungry and thirsty.

Anca looked around near the rest stop. In the undergrowth she'd find two white bags. It's passible that Scooby had been stuck into one of these and had been left to die by his owner. The dog that had been stuck in the other bag was nowhere to be found. It's possible that it had been so scared it ran off in to the nearby woods. Anca sadly wasn't able to find this second dog.

But Scooby was lucky, and of course Anca took the sweet, around four year old male dog with her.

Update:
Scooby captured very quickly the heart of a family and was allowed to travel to them.
Now he lives in Germany.

A small piece of forrest, a rest stop, lots of refuse laying about and right among it: a dirty banana-box and next to it a small puppy girl crying for help.

It's the Easter weekend in Romania. Anca, of course, is doing her rounds even on this weekend to feed and provide for "her" stray dogs. When she saw the around six week old puppy, Anca had to stop for a few seconds. Her thoughts were: Ihre Gedanken "how can someone abandon a soul with a body not bigger than a palm in forest to die?"

Little Sarah is now safe with Anca.

Update:
Quickly a family has reached out to us that dearly wishes to adopt little Sarah.

A pandemic doesn't save these puppies from being abandoned by their owners. This is what happened to this small, around eight weeks old puppy girl.

A feeding spot near a garbage disposal site, just behind a residential block in Trusesti's center: This is where Anca often found puppies that had been thrown behind one of the containers to die, or were simply put down next to them. Like trash that was no longer needed. The indifference and cold inside the hearts of those people is simply inconceivable.

Alexa, how Anca would later name the small cute puppy,is now safe with her and being nursed back to health. We hope that the little one will soon find her own family and, once the borders have been opened, will be able to travel to them.

Update:
A family fell in love with Alexa and adopted her.

Through her year long work for the stray dogs of Trusesti Anca got to know many of the district’s residents. A lot of them keep their dogs on a chain. Just like the gentleman that already has searched for helped a few months ago. He would like to stop his female dog, that is living on a chain, from having any more young. During this time the dog had a litter, of which only a young female puppy survived. But this man wasn’t able to afford the castration. Of course Anca helped to cover for the costs of the surgery.

Mica, the young puppy girl, continued to live with this family. Now, ten months later Anca received another call for help from the same man. Mica by now has grown into a friendly, cuddly and very sweet young dog. But sadly she, just like her mother, has to live on the chain. Mica is suffering greatly under this circumstance, since she adores humans, but isn’t allowed to live with them. The gentleman now asked Anca to help Mica. He would let her go, if if Anca was able to find a family for the sweet young lady willing to adopt her.

Of course we will try to find a family for Mica and make her biggest dream come true.

Viorel was supposed to die.
A small male dog started to annoy his owner for some reason. We can only speculate why. The thing we know for sure is that his former owner had no conscience whatsoever. Not only did he leave Viorel, abandoning him to his fate – no, he had to go gruesome step further. He forced the friendly, sweet dog into a bag, tied it up and left him in the shrubbery at a rest stop. Viorel was able to free himself from his prison and waited next to the sack for the return of his owner.

On the 10^th of March 2020 Anca arrived at this location and already saw something white laying in the thicket When he came closer she noticed a small brown dog next to it. Viorel was completely closed off, sad and desperate. Anca took the small male with her and brought him into safety.

Update:
Viorel found his family and was able to leave Romania.

Update to Florin and Flora
On February 7th we reported on two greyhounds, a male and a female dog, that had been left behind after Trusesti's weekly market by their owner. Now of them were covered in lesions, their ears had been cut off, both of them were really skinny.

Anca took both young dogs with her, nursing them back to health. After a few weeks Florin and Flora are doing well. Both are lively, gained weight and their love of life. On top of that Anca managed to find two seperate families for these two that adopted them, right in Romania. Of course Anca checked their new owners and is going to continue visiting Florin and Flora to make sure, that they're in good hands.

There is also happy ends in Romania.

On this early evening Anca found a female dog at a rest-stop, hidden behind shrubs. Laica, this is the name this girl would later receive, was laying on a dirty blanket. Anca approached and was confused that Laica did not get up. Finally Anca was able to pet Laica. She could feel the heavily screwed on collar tightly around the dog's neck. It's possible that Laica has been held on a chain for her whole life. As Anca carefully touched and palpated Laica's body to inspect it, Anca realized the reason for why this dog wasn't getting up, and why she was left at this rest-stop to die.

Laica had a giant adhesion in her genital region. She must've been in incredible pain while urinating or even walking. This growth must've had weeks, maybe even months, to reach this size - her former owner never bothering to treat it or bring her to a vet. (If they even noticed it.)

Update:
Laica went through surgery and has weathered it well. On top of that this sweet dog will be able to leave romania after her recovery, to move in with her new family.

It was already the late afternoon, when Anca was on her way home from Trusesti. She was already mentally planing what other things she would have to do, so she would even have a chance of handling everything. She drove onto the main road leading to Botosani, when she noticed a young dog laying on the left side of the road.

For a second she thought that this dog had an accident and was already dead entered her head, that she was sadly too late, that there was nothing she could do to help this little female dog. There’s lots of traffic on this main road during the day, and cars would race across it with high speeds. Despite her sad assumption Anca decided to stop, just to check. When she came closer the little dog moved.

Bijou, how Anca would later name the small dog, was laying on an old shirt. Bijou was so happy, flopped on her back and wiggled slightly. Bijou is an around 10 year old small female dog. Her fur is matted, she was covered in parasites and very thin under her dirty coat. Her former owner cold heartedly abandoned her at the side of a high-traffic road. Fully knowing that the small dog would not survive this. But Bijou, being well-behaved, simply stayed put, waiting for her owner to come back and, despite everything, take her back.

Of course Anca took the little one with her. It only took a few days until Bijou found a nice family that wants to adopt her. As soon as possible, Bijou will be able to travel to them and leave Romania.

Back in January we reported about Dolly, a doggy lady and her seven puppies, that thought one of the dog houses placed by Anca would be a good place to give birth to her young.

Now Dolly's young have grown into energetic and friendly puppies.

Duke, Dave, Dalina and Debby (unfortunately three of her litter did not make it and passed away) are approachable, curious, playful and sometimes even mess with their mom, Dolly.But they like quiet moments, where the little ones can relax and calm down, just as much. They all loves being petted softly, already know cats and are friendly towards them..

Every Friday, in the early morning, residents of the surrounding villages come to Trusesti’s market to sell their fruits, vegetables, baked good, farm animals and other things. A few hours later, everything that’s left is packed together and people make their way home.

Often dogs that couldn’t be sold and thus lost their value for their owner stay behind. Most of the time these animals are in a very bad physical state and won’t survive the next weeks if their new found “freedom”. That’s what happened to a pair of young greyhounds, a male and a female dog. Both fuzzy noses are very skinny, with open wounds on their legs, skin issues, patches with missing fur and cut off ears.

Anca heard of these two fuzzy noses and rushed to the market. Just in time she was able to take them into her care and bring them to safety. Now they’re in veterinary care, get nutritious food, and are able to lie down on a soft padding, probably for the first time in their lives. Anca guesses the two are around one or two years old.

We will report on the recovery and development of these two fuzzy noses.

Again and again Anca invites kids and teenagers to accompany her on her animal protection work. Just like this January. Several kid and teenagers are meeting up with Anca in Trusesti’s center.

Anca stopped at a rest stop located at the main road leading into Trusesti to feed the stray dogs already waiting for her. From experience she knows to also check bushes and shrubs. Too often reality showed that these are the places abandoned puppies will try to hide in.

The small group searched the bushes, until they came across a small Styrofoam box covered with a blanket. There were several articles of clothing in front of it and on top of those, a small, curled up male puppy.

When Anca touched him he screamed out in fear, but was too weak to fight back or run away. Toto, that’s the name the children would give this little guy, was very cold and had inflamed eyes. One girl in the group put Toto underneath her jacket to keep him warm.
