Soare

Age: app. born begin of December 2020
Gender: female
Neutered:
yes
Height: app. 52 cm
Sociable with: male and female dogs, puppies and cats

Handicap: Deafness or very poor hearing

We are now certain that Soare was in shock. We don't know what she must have experienced. She has long claws and her coat is dull and full of dead plant matter. It seems that Soare must have been living in a very small space. She hardly moves and when she does, she crouches.

The days/weeks passed and Soare's behaviour changed. She wants to be touched and stroked more and more. Presses her head or muzzle against the palm of your hand. Leans against you and enjoys being touched. Soare gets on well with her fellow dogs. Age, size or gender are irrelevant. Even cats are no problem for Soare.

Soare's walk/gait also changed. There is no longer any sign of her crouched posture. But you can see that Soare's muscles in her hind legs have suffered from her past. Soare needs to be exercised in doses to rebuild her muscles. Unfortunately, Soare has a handicap that we only realised after a few weeks. Soare is possibly deaf or has very poor hearing. If you clap your hands over her head or if there are loud noises behind her, Soare shows no reaction. And yet sometimes it seems as if she does hear something.

We are looking for people for Soare, the so-called needle in the haystack, who may already have experience with deafness or poor hearing in dogs. People who can manage this handicap and give Soare a sense of security. Soare's new home should be in a rural location and her people should be patient and calm. Children should not live in Soare's new home. On the other hand, a confident first dog who takes Soare by the paw would be an advantage. We really hope that Soare will be able to leave the shelter soon, because Soare does not cope well with the restlessness that comes with shelter life.

Soare will be completely vaccinated, chipped, dewormed, castrated by the time she embarks on her journey.

Edy - 2 - legged (found a foster)

Age: app. born July 2020
Gender: female
Neutered:
yes
Height: app. 45 cm
Sociable with: male and female dogs, puppies and cats

Handicap: left hind leg severed up to the knee (accident earlier),
left front leg up to the elbow no feeling anymore (probably nerves severed).

When Anca brought neutered dogs back to a farm, she saw the handicap male with a new injury on his front leg. It appeared to be broken. Edy, as Anca now called the male dog, hopped up to her on two legs and allowed himself to be stroked. Anca took Edy with her and wanted to introduce him to her vet in Botosani. She hoped that there would be a way to help Edy. And so it happened. Anca's vet suggested a fixator on Edy's front leg. It was an attempt to save Edy's leg. However, at that time they couldn't be sure that the nerves, ligaments and tendons were still intact. This would only be found out when the fixator was removed. Edy was a very kind and patient patient who let everything happen to him without any resistance or grumbling.

After some time, the fixator was removed. Unfortunately, it turned out that Edy was not putting any weight on his front leg. Anca's vet suggested a second operation to insert a plate. Unfortunately, this option did not bring the desired success for Edy either. The nerves were probably damaged in the accident. Edy cannot use his left front leg/paw. The vet sees no other way to help Edy. Edy now hops around his little world on 2 legs.

Edy is a very cuddly and affectionate male dog who is grateful for every little bit of attention and enjoys it. Just being there is enough for this handsome male. Edy likes to lie in the sun and watch the goings-on around him. He also gets on well with other dogs, regardless of gender, size or age. He likes companions who play gently with him while lying down and cuddling. Edy avoids other dogs that romp around him too much, run or even bump into him, and goes on his way. Cats are no problem at all for Edy. He accepts them as full members of the family.

Edy copes very well with his handicap. He has learnt to keep his balance. Edy even jumps/runs up and down a few steps at an amazing speed. Edy also jumps onto elevated loungers so that he can be properly cuddled by two-legged friends. If a visitor comes into the outdoor area where Edy lives with Anca, he jumps/runs towards the 2-legged friend to greet him. He usually sits down in front of the person and waits to be stroked. Then his eyes light up and it seems as if Edy is smiling.

We are looking for help, an opportunity for this cuddly male where he can enjoy his years, with lots of cuddles, a soft basket and a nice, securely fenced garden. Perhaps a place of mercy, perhaps people who would like to give Edy a home at ground level. Even if the chances are very slim, we hope so much that Edy will find a forever home.

Edy will be completely vaccinated, dewormed, chipped and castrated by the time he embarks on his journey.

Abel

Age: app. born July 2019
Gender: male
Neutered:
yes
Height: app. 50 cm
Sociable with: male and female dogs, puppies, cats

Handicap: Recurrent cough due to an old, untreated kennel cough disease

With Anca, Abel was friendly, calm and easy-going from the very first minute. He really likes to be close to "his" human. Just lying there and watching his human or dozing off is enough for this handsome male. If he receives attention in the form of kind words or an affectionate stroke, Abel is all smiles. You can clearly see how much he enjoys this and would like to receive more of it. Unfortunately, these moments are too short and Abel looks longingly after his human when he leaves his enclosure again. He would love to go with him, Abel would love to leave the shelter by his side.

Abel gets on well with other dogs right from the start. He approaches everyone in a friendly manner and wants to get to know the other person. He is submissive and wants to make friends. Abel is not a daredevil, but when other dogs run around too much and too fast, Abel does not feel comfortable. He tries to avoid the playing dogs. Abel gives way to other dogs.

However, Abel has a handicap. He coughs. Sometimes more, sometimes less and sometimes not at all. Anca consulted various vets after treatment with various antibiotics did not have the desired effect. The vets came to the conclusion that this could be the result of an old, untreated kennel cough. Anca was given tablets for the days when Abel coughs a lot. And these help Abel quite well.

We are looking for people who want to give him closeness, warmth, lots of cuddles and love for the handsome short-furred Abel. Abel doesn't need long walks. Sniffing and exploring the neighbourhood with his human would be a dream come true for Abel. We are looking for people who take Abel as he is and want to give him a loving home. Abel will certainly have a lot to learn. But we can well imagine that Abel will try everything to please his human.

Abel will be completely vaccinated, chipped, castrated and dewormed by the time he embarks on his journey.
